Some Notes About QIF Compatibility
The QIF specification describes many different aspects of financial activity, some of which are not yet supported in Liquid Ledger. The following list offers a brief overview of QIF compatibility in the current release.
- Liquid Ledger can import cash, banking, credit card, and investment accounts from a QIF file as well as generic asset and liability accounts. Other account types such as loan accounts will be imported as generic asset or liability accounts.
- All transaction attributes defined in the QIF standard are supported, including split transactions, account transfers, and cheque numbers.
- Foreign currency transactions exported from Quicken for Windows or Microsoft Money may not import properly due to limitations in the QIF specification.
- Some entities are not yet supported, such as security prices, budget amounts, and memorized transactions. These are currently ignored if specified in a QIF file.
