How to Submit Your Data File for Debugging

If you have found a bug that only occurs when working with your document (and not with a newly created document), it may be necessary to submit your Liquid Ledger document for debugging. It is recommended that you follow the steps below to encrypt your financial data before sending such sensitive information over e-mail.

  1. Run the Disk Utility application located in the “Utilities” folder of the “Applications” folder on your computer.
  2. Choose the New > Blank Disk Image command from the File menu.
  3. Choose a size for the disk image from the Size pop-up menu that’s large enough to hold your document(s).
  4. Choose "read/write disk image" from the Format pop-up menu.
  5. Type a name for the image such as “Liquid Ledger Files” and choose where you want to save it, then click Save.
  6. Copy your document(s) to the “Liquid Ledger Files” volume that will have appeared on your Desktop, then eject the volume when finished.
  7. Use Disk Utility once again and choose Convert from the Images menu.
  8. Select the “Liquid Ledger Files” disk image you previously created in Step 5 and click Convert.
  9. Choose “compressed” from the Image Format pop-up menu and “AES-128 (recommended)” from the Encryption pop-up menu.
  10. When prompted for a password, use the first eight digits of your Liquid Ledger registration code (uppercase and without hyphens) which can be obtained by choosing “Licence Info” from the Liquid Ledger menu in Liquid Ledger.
  11. Send the disk image as an e-mail attachment to

Please be sure your e-mail message includes your full name or we may be unable to determine the licence code used to encrypt the disk image.

Known Issues

Last Updated: August 25, 2011

File Management
Only one document’s password can be saved to a user’s Mac OS X Keychain. If you have created two password-protected documents, one of them will still prompt you to enter a password when opening it even though you may have selected the “Add to Keychain” option when setting the password.
Import/Export
When importing a CSV file, assigning columns via the Specify Delimited Format page of the Import Assistant then clicking Continue and Go Back causes all columns to become unassigned.
The Account Balances page of the Import Assistant shows currency symbols after the amounts, even if the currency is setup to show symbols before the amount.
User Interface
Deleting an account then choosing the Undo command from the Edit menu doesn't restore the account in the main window's sidebar, however closing the document and opening it again does correctly display the account.
